Originally from Salem, Oregon, Sophie graduated in May 2022 with her Bachelor’s of Music in Cello Performance and a minor in English from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, where she served as Principal Cello of the Puget Sound Symphony Orchestra. After graduating she spent the following year in the Seattle area, where she performed with the Rainier Symphony, the Orchestral Recital Series of Tacoma, and as a guest artist on the Jacobsen Recital Series at the University of Puget Sound, while maintaining an active string quartet and a studio of private cello students.
Sophie has spent four summers as a student at the Brevard Music Center Festival and Institute in Brevard, North Carolina, and has performed in masterclasses for renowned cellists including Johannes Moser, Efe Baltacigil, and Michael Mermagen. Sophie is an avid chamber musician, and is currently in the first year of her Master’s of Music in Cello Performance at the Boston Conservatory.
