On stage since the age of 9, Nick Hill is an emerging trumpet player, arranger, and improvisor with many comfort zones. An enthusiastic performer of new music, Nick is a member of the Longy School of Music’s Ensemble Uncaged, and has performed with the Tufts University New Music Ensemble, Sun Salon Improv Collective, members of Loadbang through the Divergent Studio program, and has enjoyed several engagements as an unaccompanied performer interpreting the works of Takemitsu, Henze, Berio, and others. As a freelancer, Nick has performed with the Peterborough Players in Man of La Mancha and other theater groups, in addition to numerous engagements with a wide variety of commercial acts and churches. Nick was a member of Mariachi Monarcas de Milwaukee from 2019 to 2023, recording for PBS Wisconsin, the Milwaukee Art Museum, and Wisconsin Union Directorate, and frequently performed at the Miller Lite and Harley Davidson stages on the Summerfest grounds. They were also principal trumpet of the Middleton Community Orchestra from 2021 to 2023. Nick is a current master’s student at the Longy School of Bard College, and holds degrees in music performance and communication arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
