JD Uchal is a Boston-based oboist and english hornist currently pursuing a master’s of music degree at The Boston Conservatory under the direction of Robert Sheena.
Prior to studying in Boston, JD received a B.M. from the Eastman School of Music in oboe performance, where he studied with Richard Killmer, and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Rochester.
In between his undergraduate and graduate studies, JD worked as an engineer for the Fox Products Corporation, a company known for creating world-class double reed instruments. Although he remains a bright mind behind the technical scene, JD also excels in the performance field. In between his studies, JD organized several wind octet concerts as well as performed in a variety of different ensembles such as ProMusica, Columbus Symphony, and Fort Wayne Philharmonic, to name a few.
JD remains passionate about learning, exploring, and enjoying all genres of music from Bach to Beyoncé.
