Violinist Gabriel Anker (he/him) interprets chamber music, “with impressive weight and cohesion..." (The Strad magazine), and he is a practicer of diverse musical genres and traditions, ranging from early to new music. Gabriel has concertized at venues across the globe, including Carnegie Hall,
National Sawdust, Disney Hall, the Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, the Philharmonie de Paris, and others. He has performed at international summer music festivals including Aspen, Encore, Bowdoin, Madeline Island, and Domaine Forget. Gabriel is passionate about historically inspired performance, and he has collaborated with members of the Netherlands Bach Society. In 2022, Gabriel toured Holland with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta and performed with the Orchestre de Paris under Klaus Mäkela. Gabriel believes the future of music is assured by living composers through recent immersive collaborations with such artists as Caroline Shaw, Rhiannon Giddens, and Paola Prestini. Projects with Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra since 2018 and with LA’s Street Symphony have enabled Gabriel to advocate for access to traditional and new classical music. Since moving to the northeast, Gabriel is a founding member of the Rose Quartet, former graduate quartet in residence at Montclair State, and a 2025 Emmanuel Bach Fellow. He is a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire in the Hague, San Francisco Conservatory, University of Southern California (MM), and Rice University (BM, Distinction in Creative Work and Research).
