Born in Hangzhou, China, Deng is pursuing her doctorate at Boston University, studying with Michelle LaCourse. She began studying the viola at age 13 at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music with Li Sheng in 2013. Afterwards, she came to the United States and studied with Marcus Thompson at the New England Conservatory and earned her master’s degree at the Yale School of Music studying with Ettore Causa.

She has participated in numerous music festivals, such as the Music Academy, Lucerne Festival, Sarasota Music Festival, and Round Top Music Festival, where she was awarded fellowships. Deng is passionate about both solo and chamber music performance and has played in Shanghai, Munich, Hangzhou, Seattle, and Boston. She won the Bach Competition at Boston University in 2024 and was a finalist in the Concerto Competition.
