John comes to Emmanuel Music with extensive managerial experience in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors having spent the last several years with key leadership roles with non-profits. A graduate of Amherst College with degrees from both Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School and a former President of Muhlenberg College, he has had a solid career as an executive and consensus builder with proven ability to lead organizations in times of transition, preparing them for future success.
John is an Associate with the firm Interim Executive Solutions (“IES”) which focuses on strengthening the non-profit sector by assisting organizations to increase their impact and achieve their missions. His non-profit leadership also includes service as a Life Trustee of Amherst College, his alma mater, and as a member of the board of Mastersingers USA with which he is also an active ensemble member. In Boston, John has sung as a tenor in the choirs of Old South Church and Trinity Church, as well as with the Copley Singers. John is a life-long Episcopalian and a graduate of (Episcopal) Kent School in Kent, CT, where he also serves on the board of trustees.
A talented renaissance man, John is also a trained musician - singer and drummer- as well as a licensed pilot. He has a deep appreciation for classical music and a love for the music of J.S. Bach. He and his family reside in Jamaica Plain.
