Schütz SWV 315: Hodie Christus natus est - Kleine Geistliche Konzerte II

"Hodie Christus natus est," SWV 315, begins dreamily, even casually. It ends however in a flurry of truly virtuosic coloratura for both the soprano and the tenor. Even at this relatively late date in his career (1639) the influence of Monteverdi is obvious.
