Motet notes - Harbison

"Communion Words," composed in 1994, is a piece of practical music, intended to be incorporated into the service on a weekly basis. Its functional purpose and modest scope place it a little outside the orbit [of Harbison's other motets], but very much of a piece with the other works is its dedication to Priscilla Young, whose continued generosity in support of the activities at Emmanuel over many years has helped to bring all this music into being.
